In the 1800s southern and central European hunters typically pursued game only for a trophy, commonly the head or pelt of an animal, to be displayed as a sign of prowess. In fact, changing the word without a commensurate effort to elevate hunting behavior, would look disingenuous to me. It seems like the greatest way to make sure that non-hunters do not view hunting as sport” is to challenge those practices that make it look a helluva lot like sport. The challenge is to get non-hunters to recognize what hunting is and raise the behavior of some hunters to a level that tends to make us all proud to be identified as hunters.” Amen to that. Nevertheless, I can rightfully claim my hunting is an economically productive activity.

For some, it is merely habit—a word they grew up applying, a word they’ve read a million occasions in books, in magazines, and on line. Unless you are advocating hunting with NO Guidelines (which I do not assume any person is), hunting is a guidelines-constituted kind of play. Again, I never care what you contact it, but the agonistic element is present in hunting whether you like it or not. There is presumed to be fairly pretty tiny subsistence hunting in the nation (with most hunting for either sport or commercial profit).
